Are online degrees valid to prospective employers?
What does a prospective employer look for in an employee, is it his theoretical knowledge or the ability to put across the views and being able to handle the situations in a tactful manner? If you were to turn to history of the present times, then most of the entrepreneurs would be those who have not taken the conventional path of obtaining a degree to become what they have become. So, if you have not been able to get the formal degree it is not the end of the world. The online degrees have turned out to be manna from the heaven for a situation like this. There are circumstances, which may force you to drop from the education to stand on your feet and fend for yourself and the family. In earlier times once you were forced to leave the education it became tad difficult to complete the education that you may aspire for. Now even the employees encourage the employees to go in for online degrees, i.e. those who are in the job are encouraged to upgrade their educational qualification.
The employer encourages online degrees for the sheer fact that he is equipping and empowering his human resource in a qualitative manner. The encouragement for online degrees is more in the case for those who are in the lower or middle rung as they are those who are not able to complete their formal degrees Once the employee obtains an online degree while being on the job, it is value-addition for the employer as he has got a human resource which has a value addition contributed by the employer, and as such the element of moral binding also comes into play for the employee. For the prospective employers’ online degrees is a value proposition if it comes along with certain experience or if the employee demonstrates his commitment for a job than a person having a fancy degree who may change hat at the drop of a hat.
